Day 287

The gym where Seth plays basketball prohibits street shoes, so this means he has to carry his basketball shoes inside before putting them on.  Which means he has to keep track of 2 pairs of shoes.  Thus he started saying that he needed a gym bag for his stuff.  Because I just bought him 2 new pairs of Nike shoes (one for basketball and one for everyday wear), I was not in the mood to make another purchase.  I happened upon a garage sale in our neighborhood and scored a new black cinch sack for 25 cents.  I wanted it to be easy to see and have his name on it as well.  Enter day-glo green duct tape.  Needless to say, Seth loved my creation.

Day 258

GothGirl’s school hosted their Open House tonight, so we went to meet her teachers and stuff.  After arriving, she took us to her locker first.  This is the same locker that she gets complimented on by other students and teachers due to the coordinating locker accessories and neatness.  Sadly I forgot my camera at home in our haste to get out the door, so these photos were taken with my iPhone.

Next we visited her classrooms.  Here she is showing off one of her projects….

And here’s one of the class art projects for which she did most of the designing and drawing.  Each class had to make a giant “poster” like this using the Book Fair’s “We Read, We Rock!” theme.

It was a fun night and we enjoyed seeing many of the other kids and parents with whom we were acquainted, though there were so many more families that we had never seen before since this is GothGirl’s first year at the Middle School.

Later that night after the kids were in bed, Crockett and I were watching a movie when Felix decided to check out the screen.  He proceeded to sit down in front of it and bat at the moving figures.  Crazy cat!  We had to move him down several times so that we could see the screen.

Day 161

Now that summer is here, we have started a carpool with a friend so that we don’t each have to make 2 trips out to the school for drop-off and pick-up at summer care.  For the past few mornings, the kids have been working on plastic bead designs.  The kids place plastic beads together in a pattern on a shaped base and then I use the iron to weld them together into a single piece.  They were hard at work and being so good that I had to take a photo.  These aren’t the best photos but they do document part of our morning.  Now I just need to get some photos of the finished pieces.
